Jana Zwilling is a clinical assistant professor in the graduate nursing program. She has been teaching in the graduate program since 2011 and served as the F.N.P. track director from 2014-2021. Zwilling is an alum of UND’s F.N.P. master’s program and completed her Ph.D. in Nursing through the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Before her academic career, Zwilling completed her B.A. in Nursing at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. She then spent seven years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, traveling to a variety of assignments. After certification as an F.N.P., Zwilling has worked at Altru Health System in Grand Forks for the past 11 years in occupational medicine, with flex time in urgent care and women’s health. Much of her research focuses on the nurse practitioner workforce, practice regulations, health care policy, nurse practitioner role and utilization.
