Peter Westre, M.S., P.M.H.N.P.
Clinical Assistant Professor

Peter Westre is a clinical associate professor at the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines at the University of North Dakota. He earned his B.A. in Psychology in 1983 from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He returned to his alma mater in 2008 to earn his B.S. in Nursing and then earned his M.S.N. in Psychiatric-Mental Health (P.M.H.N.P.) through the University of North Dakota in 2013.
Currently, Westre is in clinical practice at a small, 16-bed inpatient hospital in Annandale, MN, but he has also served full-time as a psychiatric nurse practitioner providing direct care and treatment at a state-operated facility. Along with a passion for nurse education, he enjoys working to constantly improve nurse practitioner education, develop candidates for advance practice nursing and prevent violence in the nursing workforce.
At the University of North Dakota, Westre teaches Psychopharmacology, Advanced Health Assessment, Management of Psychopathology, the Advanced Clinical Practicum and an Independent Study course.
